HISTORY
Under the guidance of their Green Lantern, the worlds in Space Sector 1634 were at peace for generations. The noble Green Lantern had taken an active role in policing his sector and was idolized by the sentients he served. For reasons as yet unknown, the Green Lantern of Space Sector 1634 went to Earth and sired a son who would grow up to murder him and become known as Lord Malvolio of the Green Flame.
In the absence of their Green Lantern, the worlds of Selsia V and Selsia VI came into conflict which escalated into a war. Minor squabbles kept them from signing a peace treaty and their conflict threatened to become a war which would span the galaxy. This garnered the attention of the former Green Lantern known as Priest. - Action Comics Weekly #623-625
Priest brought Hal Jordan, Green Lantern of Space Sector 2814, to a small synthetic planetoid operated by inhabitants of Selsia VI. Though their robotic equipment initially attacked him, they greeted the Green Lantern as a savior. The planetoid was attacked by forces from Selsia V, killing many, but the enemy dreadnoughts quickly departed. - Action Comics Weekly #623
Dreadnoughts forces from Selsia V fought Green Lantern Hal Jordan at a buoy in Sub-Sector 82, in the center of the Selsia war zone. The Green Lantern was there to recover the power essence of his Oan power battery which had been hidden by Priest as a training exercise. When Green Lantern faltered, his ring running out of energy, the soldiers from Selsia V withdrew, fearing it was a trick by their foe. - Action Comics Weekly #624
The worlds of Selsia V and Selsia VI met to sign a treaty but Lord Hedron of Selsia V would not sign it, believing it gave his enemies a strategic advantage. President Janel of Selsia VI demanded Hedron agree to the treaty or die, sparking a fight between the opposing planets. It was at that moment that Green Lantern revealed his presence. Both sides tried in vain to kill their mutual foe and considered it blasphemy that he should wear the symbol of their god, the former Green Lantern of Space Sector 1634. Ultimately, they believed they were forced into a peace treaty against their will by Green Lantern. The leaders of each planet swore revenge on the interfering ring wielder and agreed to pool their worlds' technologies into creating an ultimate weapon. - Action Comics Weekly #625
The union of their technology created the Seeker. The robot's sole purpose was to seek out and destroy Green Lantern and it would let nothing get in its way. When a battle cruiser crossed Seeker's path and did not have the answer Seeker wanted, the mechanical juggernaut destroyed it, killing all hands onboard.
Primary focus directive programming had been left up to Janel and his scientists and Hedron believed, incorrectly, that Janel would have programmed it to respect all life forms with the exception of Green Lantern. Unbeknownst to Hedron, Janel had ordered his scientists to create a second Seeker, improving on the first. Janel had planned to use the Seeker II to protect him if Green Lantern made it to Selsia VI and then kill Hedron.
Learning of the Seeker's destruction of a space station, Hedron demanded Janel recall the Seeker. Knowing that if he were to set foot on Janel's world it would mean almost certain death, for the good of the universe Hedron believed he had no other choice.
The Seeker found its target in deep space as an alien creature identified itself as the Green Lantern of Space Sector 2814. The Seeker tried to kill the human but a mishap in an asteroid field smashed it to pieces. Jordan was not aware the Seeker had been sent to kill him. He had believed the Seeker was a sentinel that had originally considered him to be a threat but later recognized him as law enforcement. When it was smashed by two asteroids, Jordan left as he was too busy to investigate further.
The Seeker caught up to Green Lantern during the ring wielder's meeting with Priest and promptly attacked. After Green Lantern smashed it, he realized the Seeker was not a different model but rather the same robot which continually rebuilt itself. Jordan tried to atomize it but could not eliminate the gold module which controlled its reconstruction. Green Lantern knew his last action had taught the Seeker of the ring's weakness against the color yellow and therefore he tried to put some distance between the Seeker and himself.
Hiding in a nebula, Green Lantern hoped to buy some time to find a solution but the Seeker was already upon him. Once its quarry had been captured, the Seeker played a recorded message from Janel who revealed the creation of Seeker was to destroy Green Lantern for his interference. Green Lantern used the view screen which played Janel's message to attack the Seeker from the inside, destroying it once more. Unable to find the control module in the cloud of debris, Green Lantern warped to the Seeker's homeworld of Selsia VI. The Seeker had reformed itself, larger and more powerful than before and followed its target through the warp. In an attempt to destroy Green Lantern, the Seeker fired a massive cannon at the ring wielder. The blast missed its target, destroying the moon of Selsia VI. The debris rained down on Janel's homeworld.
Shocked that Janel had allowed the destructive force of the Seeker to go unchecked, Hedron ordered Janel to recall the Seeker or his forces would invade Janel's world. Tired of hearing his old enemy's lecturing, Janel threw him into a room with Seeker II which killed him.
When Green Lantern reached Janel's headquarters, the leader of Selsia VI unleashed Seeker II. While the second Seeker would have surpassed the first it never got the chance as the first reached into the building and crushed it, before it was able to adapt and evolve a defense. The first Seeker then questioned Janel for the location of Green Lantern. Without an answer for his creation, Janel was killed by the Seeker.
Green Lantern was not faring well against the Seeker as he had been worn down while the automaton had grown stronger. As Janel's recorded message played, Priest arrived to advise Jordan to give up his power ring which would mean Green Lantern no longer existed. Deprived of a target, the Seeker shut itself off.
The gases around Seeker were solidified, enabling Green Lantern and Priest to transport it to a black hole which led to another galaxy. There, it would be far enough away Jordan would not need to be concerned of its return. It has not been seen since. - Green Lantern Special #2
