Synopsis: - The D.N.Angels are upbraided by General Good for failing to re-capture the young clone of Jim Harper, the Guardian. Meanwhile, Superboy arrives home to collect the infant Guardian, only to find that in less than 48 hours, he's grown to an age where he can walk, talk, and answer back. He's also regaining some memories of his former life - he's desperately afraid of having to fight in a war. Superboy is then contacted by Oracle, who tells him that the Metropolis project uncovered by Batman may be responsible for the cloning and attempted kidnapping of the Guardian. Superboy heads out on a motorbike, with the young Guardian safely hidden in his sidecar.
- In the sewers beneath Metropolis, Superboy battles the semi-sentient Tofu people, before encountering Serling, Heatwave, the Guardian (who got scared in the sidecar) and an insane ferryman who takes them into the heart of the Metropolis Project - 'since when did the sewers get so crowded?' Inside they discover Checkmate knights as security, and find Strange Visitor, who is being experimented on. When they free Strange Vistitor, she is furious with them for doing so: she's here voluntarily for the good of the world. Talia then arrives and reprimands Superboy for his break-in and his stealing of 'government property', better known as the Guardian. Speaking of whom, the kid is now in the hands of the DNAngels and their leader, the diminutive General Good.
